I came across this when researching Terrain Vague, and would just like to point out the term 'Terrain Vague' was actually coined by the surrealist's in the early twentieth century, specifically a photograph by Man Ray entitled "Terrain Vague"which was taken around 1932. I have not yet read the article by Morales so i'm unsure whether he mentioned this, and I am aware you posted this back in 2009 so perhaps my opinion is outdated, however I wanted to make sure you were aware of this. For reference look at the book City gorged with dreams, surrealism and documentary photography in interwar paris by Ian Walker, specifically chapter six titled 'Terrain Vague'.
